Trapped
Kirsty A. Niven
Trapped, trapped, trapped
waiting for an opportunity:
for a chink in your armour.
Trapped, trapped, trapped
under the pad of your thumb
the weight of a blue whale.
Trapped, trapped, trapped
blind in the velvet black
eyelids sewn tightly shut.
Trapped, trapped, trapped
suffocating in this prison
lungs buckling beneath.
Trapped, trapped, trapped
blood seeps through the floor
until I can’t take it anymore.
Trapped, trapped, trapped.
